I was reading an article on Wired about “The good enough technology” recently and it made consider how Internet is changing our work environment.  It is now possible with a relatively low cost computer and an Internet connection to do many things, who were before that, exclusively reserved to professionals.  We can even feel the change in our work environment.

I was searching some informations on past Worldcon not long ago and I have found a most interesting website about the history of the fans in Worldcon.  The website is the fan history project, Fanac, and its devoted to the preservation and distribution of science-fiction fandom.

Have you ever tried to find something on the Internet but every keywords are linking to an other event?  Like looking for the 2001 Worldcon or the results of a ski competition in 1999.  I’m sure these events are documented on the web but they are harder to find as new events are “masking” the results.  Internet is suffering from a kind of strange memory problem.  Its our biggest shared repository of facts on human life and its a looser on how to recall something.  Search engines are part of the solution but they are not so great.  The best solution is, as its always been, find somebody who know and follow its lead to an other person.  In time you will find what you are looking for.

We have created the world of sf blog to cover our view of the Anticipation 2009 event.  It was, at the beginning, a way to share with our friend and to keep a memory of what we have seen.  The convention reporter was also a big point for us because it gave us a way to participate.  We wish to thank their teams for the good job and we will follow their next coverage for sure.

We liked the blogging experiment very much and looking at our web site stats I think we are not the only one.  The webcomics post is especially popular.  We are now looking to expand the scope of the blog and we are working on a project for this blog for its Anticipation 2009 afterlife.  The project is still related to science fiction and will be to create a place where the worldcon subject are explored between the conventions.  Everything SF or of interest to SF fan maybe be talked about.  By example, we may explore the concept on consciousness, the place of web comics in science-fiction or the place of new media in science-fiction development.

We will accept contributions but the project details are not completed.  I hope to complete them this week.  If your are interested to participate and write an essay on a SF subject, send me an email (look in the about page).
